This is the moment a mother and her two daughters who were unloading their shopping fight off a would-be robber after he tried to mug them by grabbing a mobile phone and their car keys in broad daylight.
The footage was filmed on CCTV and shows the incident in the city of Canoas, in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, on 4th June.
The video shows the suspect snatch a phone from one of the women before the trio fights back. He also reportedly stole the keys to their car and tried to make off with the vehicle.
The would-be mugger tries to escape but the women are having none of it and rain down blows on him.
The women, a mother and her two daughters aged 19 and 12, were leaving a shop on Avenida Boqueirao when the man tried to rob one of them, according to the Civil Police.
He also seized the car key and tried to open the family vehicle but was stopped by the three and held by bystanders until the Military Brigade arrived.
The women were unhurt, while the suspect was treated for head injuries before being taken into custody by the police.
The mother, who asked not to be named, said: "She got scared and did not want to give him the car key, so he grabbed her by the arms and I stood in front of her so he would not hurt her.
"That was when he threw me to the ground and ran after her, and even so he tried to open the car, before they grabbed him and arrested him."
She added: "We know the ideal is to never react, but when it involves women, my daughters, I would give my life to save theirs.
"Today, we are fine, but if he had had a knife, perhaps we would have had three more cases of femicide in Rio Grande do Sul."
Gustavo Bermudes, head of the Organised Crime Repression Police Station (Draco) in Canoas, said the women acted in self-defence and will face no charges.
