Off Duty Female Officer Opens Fire On Armed Bike Robbers At Petrol Station

This is the moment an armed suspect crawls across a petrol station forecourt and tosses his gun after being shot by an off-duty female police officer when he and a colleague tried to rob a man.

CCTV footage from 28th August shows the incident in Gregorio Laferrere, in the La Matanza district of the Argentine province of Buenos Aires.

The video shows the suspect, apparently injured, crawling across the forecourt after his accomplice, who can be seen on a motorcycle.

The man on the motorbike flees shortly before the downed crook tosses what appears to be a gun as an armed female police officer marches towards him with her gun pointed at him.

She does not appear to shoot him again, apparently realising that he is injured and has been neutralised.

She was off duty and filling her own car at about 5.20am on Friday, 28th August, when she saw the pair arrive.

The two armed men approached a 34-year-old customer, named as Leonel Enrique Gonzalez, and moved to rob him at gunpoint.

The officer, who serves with the Buenos Aires City Police, identified herself, drew her regulation Pietro Beretta pistol and fired five shots.

Two of the rounds hit one of the men, a 17-year-old, in the abdomen and the left leg.

The other escaped on the motorcycle and has not been identified or traced.

Neither the officer nor the man they had tried to rob was hurt.

The wounded teenager dragged himself several metres across the forecourt before throwing down his gun and raising his hands as officers arrived, and the weapon was seized.

An ambulance took him to the Simplemente Evita hospital in Gonzalez Catan, where he was admitted for tests to establish how serious his injuries were.

According to one account, the pair turned on the officer when they realised who she was, and one of them fired at her before she returned fire.

The case has been recorded as aggravated attempted robbery, and the authorities are investigating the incident.
