Russia Claims It Disrupted Ukrainian Troop Rotations In Zaporizhzhia Using Drones

This footage purports to show Russian drone strikes breaking up a Ukrainian troop rotation in Zaporizhzhia.

The footage was obtained from the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) on 28th August and reportedly shows the strikes in Ukraine's south-eastern Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

The video shows drones watching positions on the ground from the air before cutting to strikes on those positions, allegedly the rotation being disrupted.

The Russian MoD claimed operators of strike drones from its Vostok grouping of forces thwarted a Ukrainian rotation in the region.

Rotating troops in and out of front-line positions has become one of the most dangerous tasks on both sides, because the movement exposes soldiers to drones watching the approach roads.

Russian forces took around two-thirds of Zaporizhzhia Oblast in the opening weeks of the invasion but were halted short of the regional capital.

Moscow declared the region annexed in September 2022, along with Donetsk, Luhansk and Kherson, despite not controlling any of them in full.

Friday marked 1,646 days since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine on 24th February 2022, in what the Kremlin still officially calls a "special military operation".
