Jet Ski Tourists In Head-On Crash With Boat Sending Passengers Into The Water

This is the moment two jet ski riders crash head-on into a passenger boat in busy waters off Colombia, throwing people into the sea.

The collision happened at Cholón, a popular tourist spot in the Rosario Islands area near Cartagena, Bolívar, Colombia, on 30 August.

Footage shows the jet ski carrying two people speeding through an area crowded with boats before turning across the path of an approaching vessel.

The jet ski then smashes into the front of the passenger boat, sending one of its riders into the water as the vessel spins around following the impact.

People aboard the boat can also be seen being thrown into the sea during the collision.

The Cartagena Port Authority said on 31 August that it was carrying out checks to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Officials said: “Regarding the incident recorded on Sunday, 30 August, in the Cholón area, the Cartagena Port Authority is carrying out the corresponding checks in order to establish the circumstances in which the incident occurred.

“As this is a case that must be verified and may lead to administrative proceedings, the Colombian Maritime Authority is, for the moment, refraining from providing details or issuing conclusions about what happened until official and fully verified information is available.”

Authorities said they would continue their investigation and release further information when possible.

There has so far been no official confirmation of whether anyone was injured in the crash.

Cholón attracts hundreds of tourists during weekends and busy holiday periods, with large numbers of boats, jet skis and other vessels operating in its waters.
