This is the moment a 48-year-old motorist was killed in a horrific head-on crash after veering into the path of an oncoming car with a tanker lorry behind narrowly escaping hitting the wreckage.
The collision happened on the RS-210 highway in Boa Vista do Burica, in the north-western region of Rio Grande do Sul state, southern Brazil, on Sunday, 30 August.
Dramatic footage shows the Fiat Siena pulling out of its lane before smashing head-on into a GM Meriva travelling in the opposite direction.
One angle, filmed from a vehicle travelling along the road, captures the Siena moving across into oncoming traffic moments before the impact.
Even more dramatic footage filmed through the rear window of another vehicle shows the two cars slamming into each other head-on.
The force of the collision sends both vehicles tipping into the air before they bounce backwards and come to a halt.
A lorry travelling immediately behind narrowly avoided becoming involved in the crash, according to the Rio Grande do Sul Military Brigade Highway Command.
Officials said the 48-year-old Siena driver was travelling alone and died at the scene.
A 69-year-old driver and a female passenger, also 69, were inside the Meriva and were both injured.
Emergency crews took the couple to hospital in the nearby city of Tres de Maio for treatment.
The names of those involved have not been released.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
