Police Free Man Held And Beaten By Crooks Over 500kg Lost Cocaine Shipment

This footage shows Spanish police detaining a suspect and leading away a man who had been held captive over a lost shipment of 500 kilogrammes of cocaine.

The footage was obtained from Spain's National Police on 27th August and shows the operation in Caldes de Montbui, in the Spanish province of Barcelona.

The video shows officers surrounding the vehicle and taking the suspect into custody before the victim is escorted from the scene.

He had been rescued at the moment his captor was driving him towards a remote mountain area, where police believe he intended to take reprisals against him.

The man showed clear signs of violence after being beaten repeatedly during his captivity, which began at the end of July.

The dispute arose over a load of more than 500 kilogrammes of cocaine that was to be driven from Portugal through Spain.

The head of the organisation gave the job to a middleman driver, who in turn brought in a third man to make the run.

That third driver claimed during the journey that the drugs had been stolen by others, then fled and went into hiding for fear of reprisals.

With nobody able to account for the load, the organiser held the middleman responsible and seized him.

He was beaten and threatened throughout the ten days to make him reveal where the missing driver and the cocaine had gone.

Officers identified an industrial unit in Sabadell where they suspected the victim was being held, and the suspect left with him as the pressure mounted.

The vehicle was traced near Caldes de Montbui, where the driver ignored instructions to stop and repeatedly tried to ram the officers.

Once it had been stopped he tried to draw a pistol from a bumbag he was wearing before he was disarmed and restrained.

He has been brought before a court accused of kidnapping and illegal possession of a firearm.
