Accused Child Killer Appeared At Cell Door In Underwear In Front Of Male Guard On Christmas Day

A woman accused of stabbing her partner's eight-year-old son to death before trying to burn his body appeared at her cell door in her underwear in front of a male guard on Christmas Day, according to prison records read out at her murder trial.

The claims emerged at Rostock Regional Court in Rostock, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, northern Germany, on 1 September.

Gina H., 30, is accused of murdering her boyfriend's eight-year-old son Fabian after allegedly luring him from his mother's home on 10 October last year.

A prison psychologist who had treated Gina gave evidence on the 25th day of the trial before the judge confronted her with details contained in prison records that she had not mentioned.

The court heard that a note dated 25 December stated that Gina appeared at her cell door “very revealingly dressed”, including when male prison employees were present.

She was said to have appeared in her underwear on several occasions, including at Christmas.

The prison records also reportedly stated that Gina tried to manipulate staff and play employees off against each other.

Asked about Gina’s clothing, the psychologist told the court: “Well, that is her private living space, but I can’t say how she was dressed.”

Defence lawyer Andreas Ohm later said the psychologist had explained that manipulative behaviour was “to some extent normal” in prison and was not something unique to Gina.

Earlier in the hearing, Gina’s lawyers announced that she was prepared to answer questions about her account of the case for the first time.

The judge said: “That is quite surprising for the chamber and the other parties involved in the proceedings.”

The court has now reserved 10 September entirely for Gina’s evidence.

Judges were also played a series of voice messages allegedly sent by Gina following Fabian’s disappearance and death.

In one message to her hairdresser on 18 October, Gina denied being involved and said: “I wasn’t with Fabian. I simply wasn’t there. I wasn’t with him and I didn’t abduct him. Fabian was like my second child. It is all just terribly awful and it is affecting me just as much.”

Another message heard by the court contained Gina complaining about the amount of public attention Fabian’s death had received.

She said: “All of a sudden the whole of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is mourning, even though nobody knows him. I don’t think that is bad, it is nice. But who cares when other children die?”

Gina also complained in another message about Fabian’s mother Dorina L. drawing attention to the case.

She said: “Dorina wasn’t in public life, nothing. Not even celebrities do it like this when something happens to their children.”

Prosecutors accuse Gina of luring Fabian from his home before driving him to woodland near Klein Upahl, south of Gustrow.

They allege she stabbed the eight-year-old at least six times in the upper body near a pond before later returning and attempting to burn his body using an accelerant.

The prosecution claims Gina wanted to remove a source of conflict in her relationship with Fabian’s father, Matthias R., 35.

Gina denies the charge and the trial continues.
