Horror Moment Speeding Car Smashes Into Young Woman, 18, On Her Bicycle

This is the horrifying moment a car smashes into a young woman at speed as she turns across a junction on her bicycle.

CCTV footage from 26th August shows the crash on the Samsun to Ordu road in the Carsamba district of Samsun, in Turkey.

Esra Turan was thrown several metres by the impact and died at the scene.

The video shows her riding out across the junction on an electric bicycle as the car comes through and hits her.

The crash happened at about 6.30pm in the Melik neighbourhood on the road running along the Black Sea coast.

The car was being driven by a 57-year-old man identified in Turkish reports only by the initials U.F.C.

Police, gendarmerie and ambulance crews were sent to the scene after the alarm was raised.

Medics confirmed she had died and her body was taken to the mortuary for a post-mortem examination after the scene had been examined.

The road was closed for a short period before being reopened to traffic.

An investigation by police and prosecutors is continuing, and the driver remains subject to police procedures.
